What Out & Wild Is

Out & Wild is Qasa’s nature adventure retreat series for gay men. These retreats combine movement, awe, exploration, embodiment, and queer connection in Costa Rica’s lush natural landscape. You come to play, move, breathe deeper, and remember what it feels like to feel fully alive.

Nature First

Jungle, rivers, waterfalls, and outdoor beauty are part of the experience, not just the backdrop.

Adventure With Heart

Exciting and energizing, but still grounded in care, connection, and joy.

Queer Community

A retreat designed for gay men who want nature, movement, and chosen family.

Embodiment

Yoga, breath, movement, and presence woven into the rhythm of the retreat.

More Than a Trip

You leave with memories, yes, but also more aliveness in your body and spirit.

Two Ways to Experience Out & Wild

Out & Wild includes two retreat formats. Both are rooted in nature, movement, play, and queer connection. The difference is where the energy goes: deeper into the jungle, or deeper into the water.

Into the Jungle:

A more land based adventure experience centered on jungle trails, wildlife, waterfalls, exploration, and immersive contact with Costa Rica’s wild landscapes.

Best for guests who want more hiking, more jungle energy, and a deeper connection to the land

Splash:

A more water focused retreat built around rivers, waterfalls, mangroves, tropical swimming, and playful immersion in Costa Rica’s wilder aquatic landscapes.

Best for guests who want more water, more flow, and a lighter, playful adventure rhythm.

Current open retreats for the rest of this year are Into the Jungle. Splash returns in future seasons.

Research Spotlight: Psychedelics & LGBTQ+ Wellbeing

We proudly partnered on a prospective naturalistic study exploring the impact of a 7 day psychedelic retreat experience for LGBTQIA+ participants.

This research matters because queer communities have long been underrepresented, and at times harmed, in psychedelic spaces. Our role in this work reflects Qasa’s commitment to safety, inclusion, and experiences designed with queer people in mind.

Key Findings:

Mental Health

Participants reported significant reductions in depression, anxiety, and stress - improvements that persisted at the three-month follow-up.

Quality of Life

Measures of psychological, social, and environmental wellbeing all increased, with many describing a greater sense of stability, purpose, and joy in daily life.

Spiritual Connection

Many experienced a deepened sense of meaning, connection to something larger, and a renewed relationship with their own inner wisdom.

Self-Compassion & Authenticity

Participants reported feeling more comfortable in their identities, more self-accepting, and more willing to express their authentic selves.

Beyond the numbers, personal accounts revealed themes of belonging, liberation from shame, and profound emotional release. Many participants described the retreats as life-changing, offering both immediate breakthroughs and tools for continued growth.

This section shares findings from one prospective naturalistic study. Our retreats are non medical experiences for personal and spiritual development, and we do not diagnose, treat, or guarantee outcomes.

Alex Sloan

Alex Sloan (he/him) is a San Francisco–based kinkster, facilitator, and longtime explorer of pleasure, power, and embodiment. For over 25 years, Alex has been deep in kink—as a bator, fister, and curious student of sensation—not just to learn the how, but to explore the why: why kink opens us, why pleasure tells the truth, and why the body remembers what the mind can’t.

Alex’s work lives where kink meets meaning. Alex is drawn to the edges—control and surrender, shame and release, intimacy and autonomy—and uses intentional touch, ethical polyamory, and embodied practices to help queer men drop performance and come home to themselves.

Outside the play space, Alex has spent decades building leadership programs and transformational learning experiences in the world of philanthropy and social impact.
Alex splits time between San Francisco and Costa Rica, and feels most alive in spaces where honesty is hot, sensation is sacred, and pleasure gets to lead.

Mike Peck

Mike is a Conscious Embodiment Coach based in London, dedicated to supporting others through modalities such as Tension & Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®), Yoga, Classical and Neo-Tantra, Breathwork, Meditation, and Somatic Movement Therapy. Known for his grounding presence and deep intuition, Mike skilfully weaves together multiple practices to help people experience greater inner peace, freedom, and empowerment. His retreats, workshops and sessions are described as powerful, nurturing, and insightful-held with professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to helping others shine and thrive.

Luke Anthony

Luke has been a Kahuna Bodyworker for over 10 years, learning this connective and energetic practice in his native Australia where Kahuna Bodywork is very popular.

After years of practicing the style Luke wanted to share this beautiful bodywork with other gay and queer men, with the intent to help create intimacy and connection.

The past few years Luke has been hosting men’s retreats where he teaches Kahuna and also Tetra breath work, allowing gay and queer men to connect and share energy in a dynamic transformative way.

Luke has hosted retreats and workshops in Los Angeles, NYC, Australia, Costa Rica and Portugal.

Nude retreats and workshops have become a popular part of the teachings; allowing connection, freedom and intimacy to happen in a safe and energetic space.

Luke is excited to be part of Qasa’s programming, sharing his knowledge and bringing his own enthusiastic, fun and joyous vibe to the mix inspiring gay and queer men to live their best lives!
